Hey Charlie, relax! Be yourself! You all came across as scared. Fear smells unfunny.
Also – your set sucked– too shiney and literal. Metcalf and others OS have moved the genre on from that. If you’re gonna do news parody you’ve got to pick up where they left off. Put some junk around the desk – I dunno. You’ve got the country’s 2 best comedians on side – youse can come up with some new slant on the genre. And next time I send your producer a load of spec material, at least have the courtesy to send me an acknowledgement that it’s craporoonie

People are saying he’s just copied John Oliver like that’s a bad thing. Copy away, Charlie. An Aussie photocopy of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is fine with me.

Charlie was boring.. was lucky to make it through the whole show. And get rid of the laugh track.

John Oliver is hardly unique and genre-creating himself. All of these shows are inspired by many different sources – past and present. Pickering and co have done a great job and delivered exactly what they said they would.
It’s 4 stars from me.
