The wrong sort of toys
Toys for boys, sure. Sex toys, perhaps. But toys for kids, on Zoo Weekly’s website – really? C’mon Kmart. Adjust your sights.

This is what you get when you advertise through a portal like ninemsn instead of through specifically planned channels!

Really? Advertising K-Mart toys isn’t aimed at the kiddie-winks, it’s aimed at the mums and – in this case – the dads.
They’re the ones who will hit the mid-year toy sale and layby everything for Christmas. And dare I say the demographic of Zoo fits that socio-economic demographic who may just do that? More appropriate here than, say, BRW or even K-Zone!

I suspect its a performance network buy, so K-mart like almost everyone else, are probably prepared to take cost efficient clicks from anywhere. so channel planning, demographics and targeting go out the window at the expense of CPCs

The other ad is for avon.com.au, both of these are CPC/CPA (or cost-per-read for the KMart/Catalogue Central network ad in question) placements.

@tom spot on, this wasn’t ad placement at all, but advertising specifically tailored for the user of that pc based of their browsing history.
The fact it appeared during their other favorite pastime and they could pass it off as research/work wasn’t luck
