Thursday night audiences down with Seven winning the night

the block glasshouseThursday night saw audiences down across the board with the Seven’s Home and Away and Nine’s The Block Glasshouse winning the entertainment battles.

With lacklustre audiences in most cities news programs were for the second night in a row the most watched. In the entertainment stakes Seven’s hour-long episode of Home Away became the top rating show with 908,000 viewers from 7pm.

In the 7.30pm slot The Block Glasshouse won out with 781,000 viewers compared with Ten’s The Bachelor which dropped to 594,000 viewers on its second outing. However an error with OzTam coding for The Block meant both the 7.30pm show and the Unlocked show at 8pm were banded together, with Nine releasing the split figures later on today.

Seven’s broadcast of the AFL game between Fremantle and Carlton drew 373,000 in Victoria and South Australia, while Border Security International drew 378,000 in other states according to the OzTam Overnight Metro ratings.

The Block also topped the demographics, with The Bachelor second in all but Ten’s target market of 25-54s, where it was fourth behind two news shows.

In the news stakes, Nine News had 1.122m in the 6pm slot and 1.026m in the 6.30pm slot. Seven had 1.1m for the 6pm bulletin and 954,000 in 6.30pm bulletin/Today Tonight slot.

As the Commonwealth Games comes to a conclusion the event continued to pull steady audiences with 517,000 viewers tuning in at 9.30pm for coverage while over on multi-channel One the event drew 466,000 people from 8.30pm.

Thursday night saw Seven win the night in terms of audience on the main channel with 19.6 per cent, Nine had 18.1 per cent and Ten had 13.8 per cent.
