Today moves Mamamia show up against Mix’s 3PM Pick Up

Em Rusciano, Dave Thornton Mia Freedman

The Today Network has shifted time slots for its month-old radio show Mamamia Today, a spin-off of women’s website Mamamia.

The show will now air from 3-4pm Monday to Thursday as a lead-in to The Fifi and Jules Show, however it will remain on 6-7pm Friday nights to follow Hamish & Andy.

Hosted by Em Rusciano and Dave Thornton, the female-focused show will now be going head to head with Mix’s national show 3PM Pick Up with Chrissie Swan and Jane Hall. Freedman is a regular guest on the program which debuted on August 6.

Freedman said: “We’re thrilled at the seamless way Em and Dave have helped to translate Mamamia.com.au onto radio with Mamamia Today. They just ‘get’ the brand so instinctively. And readers have responded really well to the opportunity to interact with the Mamamia brand on another platform.”

Dave Cameron, head of Today Network for Southern Cross Austereo said: “We’ve experienced an enormously positive reaction to Mamamia Today in its first few weeks.  Our research – plus on air, online and social media feedback – tells us the show is resonating with both our listeners and Mamamia.com.au readers.  We’re looking forward to reaching an even bigger audience.”

The radio show sees a widening of Mia Freedman’s empire with one more medium for the Mamamia brand with Freedman also writing a column across News Limited’s Sunday metro papers.

Freedman previously hosted a show on Sky TV and is a regular commentator on Nine’s Today.
