Todd Sampson: He sings; he dances; he lip-synchs
Just click this link. That’s all. Click. The. Link. You’ll be glad you did.
April 20 update:
Don’t bother to click the link as it’s been disabled. But happily not before it leaked onto YouTube. (Hat-tip: Musings of an Opinonated Sod for finding it).
It’s Leo Burnett meets Fame:
Looks like the folk at Leo’s were too quick. Link has been disabled.

Further – I guess it was a preview for someone and wasn’t meant to be open to everyone:
“Hi there and welcome to the preview tool. If you are a client and have been given this address, then it is incorrect, please request the address again.

I love it. Good to see some genuine bloody enthusiasm in this industry. But the only question is, did they win the business or not?

Great video, I love it.

Brilliant!

Awesome video – rather than hiring Leo it makes me feel like asking for a job there…

If this is how supposed creative agencies behave no wonder Australia’s advertising is so dire. I thought Andy Dilallo must have been away sick until I saw him singing. Somebody get Jay back – quick. Wow. A big covered in shit did that really happen wow.

We found something that was supposed to be private and made it public!
How good is that?
Wow!

Reading some of the comments, it would appear many people feel adland is full of prima-donna wankers … and they’d be right … but I don’t think acting like a bunch of Wigglesesque fools is really good for the validity of Leo’s or the industry as a whole either.
Each to their own though …

That is amazing

“Thanks for considering us” Wow. Great way to stop them considering you.

Nice to see someone from Australia finally doing a lip dub. First group since CNet Australia!
Here’s the same song – but with no cuts!

Hello, people, this isn’t the Campaign Brief blog. This is Mumbrella. Take your gutless, anonymous sledging to a lesser site. On this site, it’s okay for people to be positive, up beat and even complimentary.
(No, I don’t work for Leos, in fact, I don’t think I know anyone there.)

If my boss tried to get me to do that, I’d punch him.

It was their pitch for eBay……..that was meant to be confidential. Decision still pending…..
‘JOY OF NEW’ was their pitch endline
User ID not verified.
If the pitch endline is public its not surprising their pitch video got out as well.
If they meant the clip to be private they shouldn’t of posted it on line.
Joy of new is a shit too.

Nothing quite as awesome as an office lip-sync. Though I have to agree with Chris, the Connected Ventures one is still the one to beat. http://vimeo.com/173714
Something to be said about having the kind of workplace where people can feel comfortable enough to stand up and be silly for a few minutes, rather than take themselves so seriously 100% of the time. We’re not saving lives after all.

Hmmm, did I see something like this from the pick of the 2009 Xmas cards? Pretty such Mumbos may have also covered it and…methinks they may have done the whole lot in one shot?
User ID not verified.
Nice lip dub.. but the best lip dubs are done in a single shot! I think eBay will reject your concept based on that. Try again with a single shot.
DISCLAIMER: I work for eBay and rejected this because it wasn’t one shot.
ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMER: That bit about me working for eBay was a bare-faced lie.

This wasn’t a pitch line if you must know, but it was fun to make. Also, it was never intended for this blog, youtube, or anywhere outside the agency. But, sometimes things go viral. To those who enjoyed it for the sprit with which it was made, Thank you. To the detractors trying to bend it into an indictment on the agency, its people or the industry at large, Grow Up or Loosen Up… both maybe.

Hear hear, @M B Andrews!
This is so funny. Looks like a fun place to work.

Lame.

This is very indicative of how talented Leo’s actually is.

“Sometimes things go viral.”
Someone finding a video on your server isn’t viral buddy.
User ID not verified.
That is the LAMEST thing I have ever seen. Trying to divert attention from the recent slew of staff departures perhaps?
It is so clear that they are trying to overcompensate for something. Like men who grow big muscles when they have small ****.
User ID not verified.
I’m about to lose control and I think I like it?
I’d rather watch your bowels loosening Leo Burnett Sydney.
It’s fast moving, it’s unconsumable and it’s not good.
*shakes head and walks away*

Forgive me if I am being naive but aren’t we professionals who are engaged by our clients for our expertise and leadership? Things like this (and all the other pathetic videos) just makes people who work advertising agencies look as stupid as everyone thinks we are and further lose the respect of the business community. Great job guys!
User ID not verified.
this makes me embarrassed to work in advertising …
wonder what the leo burnett current clients think of this – their fees working oh so hard in creating hilarious lip-sync videos to win new business.
User ID not verified.
I USED to work there. Thank god.
User ID not verified.
This reminds me of Mindshare Amsterdams ‘We work hard for your money’ please put it up.
I can’t believe that this is the best they could do to demonstrate how much they wanted to work for the client. The poor client who had to sit through this in the meeting – must have been very tough to not just walk out – or burst out laughing – in a bad way.

I cannot believe how bitter people are! It made me smile for 2 minutes of the day!

The only thing lamer than this video? You losers talking about it on a blog.

A total embarrassment.
Could have been okay if they had a) bothered learning the lyrics and b) spent a few hundred bucks on a decent camera operator.
If you’re gonna do something like this, at least do it well.
User ID not verified.
Looks like Leos is firmly stuck in the past…..this sort of lame desperate, transparent ‘we love your business’ crap went out in the 80’s…..tragic.Todd really does love himself.
User ID not verified.
i think the opposite – it shows todd is wiling to send himself up and doesn’t take it too seriously
User ID not verified.
it was a bit of fun – it made me smile and i think leo’s would be a great place to work
User ID not verified.
Gee @49/Mark, gosh hate to think where you work now?
I see Leo’s pulled it from Youtube for ‘copyright claim by Leo Burnett.’
Wonder if they paid to use the song?
User ID not verified.
I like anyone who can take the p*ss out of themselves, which rules out about 85% of advertising professionals. So hey, cool.
User ID not verified.
My take out is that Leo’s has a company designed like this:
Each creative has his own office, is 20 something, male and with ironic facial hair.
The account service team is comprised only of females who sit in an open plan area of the office, and are encouraged to wear cute frocks.
They like to promote themselves doing 80’s agency pitch stunts, and haven’t realised they are dated and are better off just letting the work speak for itself.

boring. next please

do you people have day jobs – it was fun, they look like they enjoyed doing it. i don’ t think they were trying to be original – i think they were just having a laugh. i find it amazing that this is the most hit thing on mumbrella – really.

Good to see someone having some fun and agree with Chris how amazing that this is so popular on the site! haha

Next time, if you don’t get the business Leo’s – try kidnapping the CEO’s kid. If that fails, leave a flaming brown paper bag full of poo outside his office. Actually fuck it, take the flaming bag of poo into his office and throw it on his desk.
Much better.

Complete rip off and utterly lame!
At least the guys at PixelMania dressed for the occasion!
http://vimeo.com/5491155
If you’re going to sing a gay fucking song to please a client, at least dress like you mean it!

At least they’re not as bad as these guys. These guys can’t even wank properly.

Check out the massive phallic symbol the guy’s drawing in the boardroom.

Forget ‘intelligent marketing partners’. We’re desperate. We’re subservient, and we’ll do anything to please you.
Leo employees will have to add ‘performing monkey’ to their resume! Disappointing.
