Todd Sampson’s escapology wins 874,000 viewers

todd sampson houdiniThe third and final episode of Redesign My Brain with Todd Sampson was the top entertainment show last night with 874,000 viewers and one of four of the top six programs on ABC1.

The Leo Burnett CEO and regular panelist on the Gruen series, performed a Houdini escape from the bottom of a swimming pool where he was wrapped in heavy chains and had to unlock several padlocks while blindfolded to free himself. Redesign My Brain was the sixth most watched show on Thursday, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTAM.

Meanwhile Beauty and the Geek averaged 765,000 viewers on Channel Seven and Law and Order: SVU on Ten had 681,000. Top Gear on Channel Nine averaged 404,000 at the same time although it only aired in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Nine News was the top program of the night with 1.04m followed by Seven News with 977,000.

Viewers chose Big Brother on Nine over Seven’s How I Met Your Mother in the 7.30pm time slot and Big Brother was ninth in all programs with 818,000. Big Brother was also the most watched show among people 25-54, followed by Beauty and the Geek and How I Met Your Mother.

Ten’s Jamie and Jimmy’s Food Fight Club, featuring Jamie Oliver on the subject of desserts, averaged 473,000 viewers and was 20th in all programs but 14th in people 25-54.

Seven’s Sunrise again had a strong lead over the Today show on Channel Nine in the morning battle, as Sunrise had 407,000 viewers ahead of 336,000 for Today.

Seven won the night with 20 per cent of the audience, followed by Nine with 18.4 per cent. ABC1 had a 16.4 per cent audience share, and Channel Ten had 11.8 per cent.
