Todd Sampson’s Redesign my Brain pulls 626,000 as Masterchef is top non-news show
The second outing of Leo Burnett CEO Todd Sampson’s second series of Redesign my Brain on the ABC was watched by 626,000 at 8.30pm, slightly down on last week’s audience of 675,000.
It out-rated Seven’s Criminal Minds which grabbed 546,000 metro viewers while Nine’s The Footy Show, airing from 8.40pm, was watched by 650,000.
Nine won the night with an audience share of 19.1 per cent as Seven managed to claim second place with a share of 16.5 per cent. Ten wasn’t far behind with a share of 16.3 per cent while the ABC grabbed a share of 13 per cent.
Ten’s cooking reality show Masterchef was the most-watched non-news show of the night, pulling an audience of 1.004m in the 7.30pm timeslot. The Masterclass portion of the episode was watched by 689,000. Masterchef and the masterclass were the most-watched and second-most watched shows across all the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54).
It easily beat Nine’s Top Gear which was watched by 539,000.
Meanwhile on the ABC, The Checkout at 8pm pulled an audience of 658,000.
In news, Nine News won the night with a metro audience of 1.073m, dipping to 1.006m from 6.30pm. Seven News at 6pm was watched by 1.02m while from 6.30pm it had an audience of 956,000.

Redesign My Brain is an awesome show. Its up against clever programing from masterchef juggernaut. Best doco in years.

The concept is good but the structure is pretty repetitive. I think we saw the Japanese bloke slash the squash ball about 35 times by the end of the episode. And the whole safe-cracking finale….didn’t really make for gripping TV, even with what must have been very expensive graphics.

Agree that the show did amble along at times, but it is a great concept.
The reason that Todd did such a good job is that he really understands and cares about the subject matter.
