Tourism Australia marketer joins Jetset Travelworld
The head of consumer marketing at Tourism Australia Kim Portrate has been appointed chief marketing officer of travel company Jetset Travelworld.
Portrate spent the last five years leading Tourism Australia’s consumer marketing team, the tourism body’s global strategy, program development and the implementation division.
“Kim comes to us with an extensive strategic planning background, stakeholder management and travel industry experience,” said Rob Gurney, CEO of Jetset Travelworld.
“This will be leveraged to direct and manage Jetset Travelworld’s marketing presence which will make a real impact in the industry.”
“A key component of our business transformation is to build consumer insights and add capabilities in terms of the development and execution of our marketing strategy.”
Portrate previously worked for media agencies in Australia and the US serving as a director of insight and innovation at Carat and before that as senior vice president group planning director for BBDO Worldwide and also at D’Arcy Worldwide.
Her former boss Nick Baker, executive general manager of marketing Tourism Australia, told Encore: “Kim has worked for us for five years and has done a fantastic job and so it is sad that she is leaving but I’m happy she is staying in the industry. We wish her all the best.”
Jetset’s retail brands include Jetset Travel, Harvey World Travel, Travelscene, BestFlights, United Travel and travelworld.
The company also runs a number of wholesale brands including Qantas Holidays, Travel Indochina, JTG Cruise Holidays, GO Holidays and ReadyRooms.
Tourism Australia is currently searching for a replacement for Portrate.
