The Facebook page will serve as a match-making service for women looking for a fitness buddy in their area.

Search marketing and an e-newsletter are being used to drive traffic to the page.

“Women like to train in a group or with friends, it’s more enjoyable, provides motivation and makes women feel safe,” said Alana Jones, marketing manager for Triumph Australia.

“Buddy Up is a fun and unique activity – similar to a form of computer dating. Women will love seeing who has been generated as a suitable fitness friend,” she added.

  4. I don’t think it will work, but hopefully I’m wrong. I personally would rather buddy-up with an actual friend, than someone I don’t know and may feel uncomfortable around.
