Just to chime in here – The Insight Exchange did an event called, “Twitters Impact on Media & Journalism” back in June where we did discuss how… well… Twitter is impacting media and journalism! The most important insight came from Mark Pesce (@pesce) when he explained that Twitter is really the death of the wire services. In any case, I clearly agree with Barry and Tony that the ABC’s event is certainly NOT the “first” Twitter conference in Australia. @Sarah – I think you’ll find that Beth Etling started the convergence of old and new media for Twitter back in June.

I was simply debating the “PR” point that it was the FIRST, clearly it is NOT.

It seems there’s a vast difference between a ‘how to’ events for novice Tweets to learn the ropes – ie. Bootcamp – and a conference bringing together the old and new media to debate how real-time news reporting is changing the industry.

I think you will find that the FIRST Twitter conference in Australia was in fact Twitter Boot-Camp, which was on two weeks ago – July 30th.

The Insight Exchange Team also ran a similar Twitter event to Media140 back in June called Twitter’s Impact on Media & Journalism.

Twitter Boot-Camp also has three more events planned this year:
Melbourne on August 27th
Canberra Sept 17th
Brisbane Nov 12th
