Tyrrell’s labels look for Lost Block

Tyrrell’s Wines has launched a full redesign of its Lost Block range by specialist wine label design studio John Jewell Design. The design tells the story behind the subbrand.

The range was founded 20 years ago after Semillon grapes on a small vineyard block were inadvertently forgotten about at harvest time, later discovered by chief winemaker Andrew Spinaze and produced a new style of wine.

The range now comes in six varietals and the new labels feature a caricature of Spinaze looking for the Lost Block, and extend onto Tyrell’s Lost Block cartons.

Tyrrell’s sales and marketing manager Mike Cutrupi said: “We decided to move the brand from the more traditional execution in packaging to something that graphically embraces the story of the ‘Lost Block’ with the introduction of a caricature of the vineyard manager, set in a number of winery and vineyard situations looking for the Lost Block.”

Managing director Bruce Tyrell said the new package “will only develop the acceptance and popularity” of the wines.
