Under Siege
Work in an ad agency? Ever wonder what the talent for your latest campaign felt about working with you?
Well content agency Edge had the chance to find out after working with Velvet Sand rapper Siege-A for an Optus campaign promoting their fast broadband speeds.
Siege (as he’s known to his friends) took to the group’s Facebook page to share his thoughts.
“Just after New Years I (Siege) was approached on Facebook by a company in Sydney, (contracted by Optus) looking for a fast Aussie rapper to star in 3 different ads. I was more than happy to get on board. Promo, Corporate backing, quality and adding acting to the resume? Sure. Why not?
“I was given a presentation outlining my target demographic for each ad, sample lyrics and notes. They flew me to Sydney and put me up in a hotel for the night (all paid for) – smashed the shoot 8am – 6pm. Walked away paid and happy.”

But all was not rosy in the world of Siege.
“I stumbled across this video in particular by accident – I haven’t been kept in the loop by Optus or <unnamed> company about release dates and such…
“*EDITED. The subtitles are super out of sync and as such are currently being fixed by the editing team. Sit tight for the correct version.”
In fairness to any subtitle writer trying to keep up with the lightning fast lyrics of Siege would be a stirling challenge, but at least they were fixing them.
So Siege, what did you make of your first experience taking the corporate shilling?
“Overall it was mostly a positive experience, the crew, actors and corporate were all nice and everything ran super smooth.”
All that and not even a mention of that shell suit?
Dr Mumbo has a feeling that last line will be going on someone’s CV tomorrow.
