Unilever Australia marketing chief Peter Boone quits

peter_boone_unileverPeter Boone, the Australia and New Zealand marketing chief of Unilever, is leaving the company.

The Dutchman brings to an end almost two years running the consumer goods giant’s Pacific operation, and is to return to Amsterdam.

A replacement has not been announced by the company.

Boone’s arrival in Australia caused a stir in the agency world. In March last year, the company awarded its media account to Mindshare. He then sent the creative agency scene into a spin by saying he’d listen to all-comers. He subsequently fattened Unilever’s agency roster by appointing five more agencies.

The announcement of Boone’s departure follows soon after the exit of Sharon Parker, who was responsible for the company’s deodorants, male grooming and skin categories. She joined Mediabrands as executive director of marketing services.

Unilever’s Australian brands include Dove, Streets, Flora, Lynx, Vaseline, Bertolli, Sunsilk, Omo, Rexona and Lipton.
