Viewers choose legal drama over Anh Does Scandinavia as The Block helps Nine win the night

Channel Seven’s launch of its latest incarnation of comedian Anh Do’s international travels got 630,000 metro viewers last night taking a hard fall from the 1m strong launch of the previous series and below ABC1’s premiere of its new legal drama Janet King.

Anh Does Scandinavia was third in the 8.30pm timeslot and 15th in all programs as Janet King, a spin-off of the ABC series Crownies, averaged 824,000. However Anh Do was stronger than Janet King in the 25-54 demographic where it ranked 10th, while the ABC show was 24th.

The ABC also challenged Seven for audience in the 8pm timeslot as The Checkout averaged 762,000, gaining on its launch last week and ranking just behind Border Security’s 776,000 on Seven.

Meanwhile Nine won the night with a 23.2 per cent audience share helped by its strongest weeknight audience yet for this series of The Block of 1.297m. The Block Unlocked followed at 8.30pm winning the 8.30pm timeslot with 875,000.

The Biggest Loser picked up 359,000 in the 7.30pm timeslot, a slight rise on last week’s 355,000 for Ten.

Seven was second at 7.30pm with an hour-long showing of Home and Away averaging 846,000 from 7pm, however A Current Affair on Nine was the most watched progam at 7pm with  962,000.

Nine News also won the 6pm timeslot with 1.069m ahead of Seven News’ 1.012m, however Seven picked up more viewers in the second half hour with 1.012m for Seven News and Today Tonight ahead of Nine’s 989,000.

Nine also won the morning battle with Today bringing in 319,000 across the five cities as Sunrise had 311,000.

Seven was second for the night with an 18.7 per cent share, followed by ABC1 with 14.5 per cent while Ten had a 10.9 per cent audience share.
