Vizeum to handle Wotif and lastminute media buying following competitive pitch

Screen Shot 2015-06-18 at 10.16.04 AMVizeum has been appointed to handle the media buying for Wotif, after a competitive pitch, with the agency saying it will aim to continue the “revitalisation” of the brand.

The online travel retailer had worked with Match Media on the digital spend for its Wotifia campaign, but called a pitch for all its media buying following its acquisition by Expedia and shake-up of its marketing department which saw the departure of chief marketer Michael Betteridge.

Vizeum will handle media strategy, planning and online and offline buying for both Wotif and sister brand lastminute.com.au

Match Media already has Wotif rival Hotels Combined as a client and was unable to pitch for the business. The agency was able to work on the digital buying for Wotifia as Hotels Combined handles its digital buying in-house.

Wotif Group director brand and marketing Amanda Behre said: “Wotif Group’s brand marketing team is looking forward to working closely with the Vizeum Sydney team to explore opportunities to help us build on the heritage of, and evolve and promote, our iconic Wotif.com and lastminute.com.au online travel brands.”

Vizeum Sydney managing director Nick Behr added: “We are excited to have the opportunity to help reinvigorate both brands. We look forward to using great ideas and innovation to ‘cut through’ in one of the most competitive categories, and to working with such an energised Wotif Group team.

“This is a significant win for us and we are really looking forward to working with the team at Wotif and lastminute.com.au to drive their business.”

Wotif said it was impressed by Vizeum’s strategic approach, results focus and experience working with challenger companies.

“Vizeum’s innovative, digital-first approach and hands-on client service approach were also acknowledged as crucial to the decision,” the retailer said.
