Voice of God demonstrates Nissan’s around view monitor

God speaks in a new cinema ad for the Nissan Xtrail to demonstrate the around view monitor technology that assists parking the car from all angles.

The 30 second ad created by Whybin/TBWA in Melbourne has been launched in cinemas and will play throughout the school holiday periods until the end of the year.

The video was published online earlier this week and links to two 15 second spin-offs from the ad showcasing particular features of the car were embedded at the end of the video.

The cinema ad shows a woman pulling into her driveway as a narrator explains the new Nissan Xtrail around view monitor has four cameras giving you a full view of what’s in front, behind and beside you as God chimes in, “watch out for the bins,” “watch out for the bike”, and “watch out for the dog. The dog! The dog!” who is shown running alongside the car.

The woman then looks up to the sky and says, “Do you mind? I can see you know.” God apologises and explains he was only trying to help.

Account manager for Nissan Matt Chiodo said: “We wanted to have an engaging spot in the cinema that would use the  the Dolby surround sound. The main idea is a category first which is the around view monitor. It’s about aiding parking not just from behind but from the front and side as well so you have got a birds-eye view.

“The voice of God was just a really nice way of taking a product view demonstration and injecting a bit of humour.”

The 15 second ad demonstrate the car’s interior space and washable boot by showing the woman loading her car with boxes, and removing the boot to rinse it off. As she goes to put the boot back in the car God says, “You missed a bit”.

Links to the ads are embedded at the end of each video below the tagline ‘See everything’. Chiodo said: “It’s a nicer way of doing it so it looks like it’s endorsed by the brand.”
