Volkswagen continues ‘You’ll want to tell everyone’ campaign amid emissions scandal
Volkswagen has launched a new phase of its ‘You’ll want to tell everyone’ campaign pushing the Amarok ute, as the brand continues to deal with the fallout of the emissions test cheating scandal.
While the car brand has suspended its advertising in many major markets as it tries to save the brand after revelations it had fitted millions of vehicles globally with software capable of cheating diesel emissions tests it released the new ad for the Amarok over the weekend.
On Saturday the brand said it was suspending Australian sales of some models over the scandal.

The ad sees a Volkswagen Amarok owner spruiking the details of the car to a bored kayaker. It ends with the tagline ‘You’ll want to tell everyone’.
It is the latest in a series of similar ads for different Volkswagen vehicles where people enthuse about their new cars to uninterested parties.
Experts have predicted the scandal, which has so far seen the CEO and other senior executives resign, has wiped billions off the value of the brand.
DDB Sydney is the creative agency of record for Volkswagen.
Consumers have very short memories when it comes to such ‘scandals’.
Have we seen an increase in used VW’s, Audi, Seat and Skoda’s hitting the market? Not yet. Have we seen a marked decrease in new VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda sales? Not so far.
Do a poll 6-12 months from now asking who was involved in the emissions test cheating scandal and most will either not have a clue or name the wrong manufacturer.

Funny that so many people in the office and out of office ask me about my VW relating to the “Scandal.”
Reminds me a of the ostrich sticking its head in the sand…. denial denial.

Who was involved in the emissions cheating scandal?
Some Aussie politician, wasn’t it?

Pretty silly move considering the news is about to get much bigger. A good agency would recommend a pause in advertising, at least until the scandal is dealt with.

Question – Who bought their VW with emmision levels as their number one criteria? I would suggest very few to none. Who follows up and tests the emmission levels of their car 1, 3 or 5 years after it is sold. Again no one. The scary thing here is, how many other maunfacturers do something similar to get the diesel engines through testing.

CJ – the real question is, if they lied about emissions, what else have they lied about?
That combined with terrible service and reliability issues makes this brand a ticking time bomb.
