WA announces Tele-Navigator program

ScreenWest will launch its new three-phase Tele-Navigator Development Program for television, replacing the former T-Vis program.

The first phase will see executives from Ten, SBS, ABC1 and ABC3 visit Perth over a three-week period to discuss the state of drama production, what they want to commission, and what they’re looking for in a pitch.

This phase is presented by ScreenWest, the Australian Writers Guild and Screen Australia, and its main aim is to identify projects and ideas suitable for the current drama market place.

The AWG will run an open one-day workshop with producer Amanda Higgs on the TV market and how to get your projects commissioned!  Workshop participants will be eligible for a small ScreenWest grant to develop projects such as telemovies, adult and children TV series, mini series or sitcoms.

The first phase will be followed by an intensive development period for up to six selected projects in November (call for entries in September), and ultimately a development grant that will, according to ScreenWest, “hopefully” see two projects being commissioned.
