Les Corner has resigned from The West Australian newspapers, following a 25 year career with the Seven West Media daily newspaper, based in Perth.

Corner has been a major player in the Perth media market, rising to the role of national sales manager at The West, the main newspaper in the city.

Dane Chandler will take on Corner’s old role and will be responsible for Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland and South Australia. Brent Stewart take on the local agency manager role.

In an interview with Campaign Brief, he said he thought “the timing was right” for his departure and wanted to seek out new opportunities.

“My time at The West has been a blast. There’s some great people here and my decision to leave is very amicable. The industry is going through huge change at the moment and I’m looking forward to this next step in my career,” said Corner.

Corner’s contribution to the Perth’s media has been recognised twice already with his life membership award from the Perth Advertising; Design Club and in 2006 when he was named WA Advertising Person of the Year.
