What’s in a name?

Sometimes good stuff doesn’t make it to air. Like this one that got squeezed out of last night’s Hungry Beast.

Ever wondered how the media pros (or ambassadors) get their pronounciations right on the big occasions?

  2. Sorry Tim, but that’s not funny. You know what, it was funny before the punchline. If he’d said it perfectly at the lecturn, it would have been good. Just my 2c worth.

  4. Not funny and mildly racist. Never a good combination. It’s a good thing this didn’t make it to air.

  12. Racism? I dunno. That name’s certainly been a tongue twister for probably just as many of us that aren’t racist as those that are. I like it.

  14. Wow don’t those foreign type names sound funny. It’s not overtly racist, it’s just a lazy punchline.
The real problem is that this sort of stuff is wedged between overly ernest attempts at journalism which makes it difficult to take the show seriously when it wants us to. Let’s all listen to serious issues about gender identity, coming up next mocking Indonesian surnames.

  20. Hungry Beast is the best show. Their research is good, from news to blogs. I think the serious stuff mixed with a few gags is good. Nothing else out there like it.
Racist, that’s a bit extreme. There is probably some Indonesian comic right now taking the piss out of Kevin Ruddy Rudd… have a laugh why dont ya… no harm intended…
