Who needs dignity when a trip to NY is up for grabs?
If Dr Mumbo was a clever coder he would be using oOh Media’s dinner with Mr Big contest (usual declaration of interest: they’ve been advertising it on the Mumbrella email) to develop an exchange rate charting willingness to give up dignity versus the opportunity to win a trip to New York.
Standing apparently naked in front of the Opera House was one thing, as OMD’s Sara Williams was happy to demonstrate last week.
But with the introduction of the Mr Big Dignity Index, Dr Mumbo will be going long (or possibly short – as the terminology eludes him too) on Sara’s OMD WA colleague Janine Gustavino.
(Update: After a couple of requests, Dr Mumbo is labelling what lies beneath the “read more” as NSFW. Proceed when the boss isn’t standing behind you…)
Still, Initiative’s Robyn Li is also shifting the dignity index with her entry, entitled “The big ooooOOOoOhhh!”.
Fair to say that Li’s entry (if Dr Mumbo dare use the word in this context) has not impressed everybody.
Sue-Ellen Osborn comments on the contest page: “Not smart or innovative. Sets feminism back 50 years.”
Not so, asserts Ms Li on the same page: “I would argue the freedom for sexual expression is a actually a step towards feminism. Isn’t that why Sex and The City is so popular??????” Why indeed?
And it’s not just the women who are getting naked for Mr Big. So is Aidan Ryan.
Still, as an added bonus, even if none of the above people win, there will at least be handy images available to accompany their professional progress in the years to come.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum comes Mediacom’s Hayley Alexander, who’s gone the glamour route and uploaded a photo of herself with boss Mark Pejic. Or, as she puts it in the entry “hanging with the big dog”.
Which just seems unfair on the other contestants, because not everyone gets to spend time with somebody as glamorous as Pej.
Dr Mumbo can’t wait to see how his one turns out.

I have no idea why media people are treated as mindless by other sectors of the marketing communications industry.

You would hope that industry people could come up with more than the naked shot to sell product.

We always do a quick ‘Google buzz report’ before we hire anyone. These guys might want to think about that for a second…

And to think people were objecting to marketers being cc’d on their briefs to the media…
