Who needs to see the work when you can watch the ads?
To the IAB Awards at Sydney’s Carriageworks.
And in a commerce-friendly innovation, the audience had the pleasure of watching a video ad for each sponsor before the winner of a category was announced.
Unfortunately there wasn’t actually time to tell the audience what the winning campaigns actually did. But then, you can’t have everything.
they did the same thing back in 2007 or 2008

Tim – you may not be aware that the details of the winning campaigns can be found online to be consumed at your leisure.

Hi Pru,
Thanks for the link. I was aware of that. But I wonder how many of the guests at the event have taken a look. A relatively small percentage, I suspect.
It does strike me as a missed opportunity not to share what people had actually done, even if it was just in a voiceover as each winner had their photo taken.
As it was, from the audience point of view it was a somewhat baffling experience as in a fair few cases I had no idea what I was applauding.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
