Wicked Campers ad banned for encouraging drivers to run over kangaroos
Yet another ad from van hire company Wicked Campers has fallen foul of the Advertising Standards Bureau, this time for encouraging drivers to run over kangaroos.
Signage with red splatter marks and red lettering read: “Kangaroo’s. Run the fuckers down! wickedcampers.com.”
The ASB did not pick up on the poor grammar in the copy, with an apostrophe erroneously appearing in the word ‘kangaroo’s’.
Wicked campers is a serial offender for ads that rankle the ASB. Three ads were censured in July 2009.
Love it! … would only recommend hitting them if you have a bullbar though. No one needs any Wolf Creek incidents in the middle of nowhere.

Although… I like how Tim picked p the error for “kangaroos”, but misspelled “erroneously”! 😉 Love your work, Tim.

Nice to see that feeble, moronic creative still includes the quintessential punctuation error. Nice work, retards.

Just wondering when ASB will realise that companies , like Wicked Campers who are not mainstream marketers, use them as a cheap way to advertise in ways they know would not get passed by anyone’s idea of reasonable advertising standards … its a cheeky ploy, but not new.

If the campaign was aimed at advising drivers not to swerve when a `roo hops out in front of them (or a dog or bandicoot or rabbit, etc) as a safety factor, fair enough. Many fatalities have been caused by surprised drivers who turn away from the lesser threat into an on-coming vehicle or a culvert or a tree.
However,I have always objected to the use of the F bomb in written advertising. There are many lesser curse words that could be employed just as effectively/humorously to the same effect.
I believe use of such obscenities lowers everyone`s standards and it should be a national law that the F and C bomb are outlawed in any publicly viewed advertising.
Swerving to avoid a smallish animal collision is unsafe:use of the F bomb offensive. Modify the message, please.
