Women’s Day campaign to help Asian women start in business

To mark the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated tomorrow (Tuesday 8 March), a campaign has launched to help women in poor parts of Asia start their own businesses.

The idea behind the “100 Women” campaign, devised by Porter Novelli for charity Good Return, is to encourage Australian women to support 100 women in Asia by making a small loan that will help them set up a business.

The TV ad was created inhouse at Good Return and edited by Josephine Bezzine and Andrew Tieu, students of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.

Also to mark International Women’s Day, community radio station 2SER-FM is switching to an all-female format, in keeping with a decade year-old tradition.

The 18-hour special will feature the likes of broadcaster and comediene Julie McCrossin, musician Holly Throsby and Sydney band Bridezilla.
