X Factor and 800 Words both break 1m viewer mark handing Seven comfortable Tuesday win

800 WordsThe second outing of Seven’s Australian drama 800 Words was a ratings winner for the channel, grabbing 1.192m metro viewers in the 8.40pm timeslot to be the most-watched show of the evening.

While it was also the most-watched show amongst viewers aged 25-54, it was down slightly on last week’s audience of 1.219m. Last week’s debut also picked up an extra 131,000 viewers in time-shifted viewing to take its total audience to 1.35m.

It was a positive night for Seven, which won the night with a share of 24.9 per cent, with The X Factor winning its 7.30pm timeslot with a metro audience of 1.092m according to OzTam metro overnight ratings.

It out-rated Nine’s The Block which pulled in 858,000 metro viewers, up on last week’s audience of 838,000. The Block was the most-watched show amongst viewers aged 16-39 and 18-49.

Both shows easily trumped Ten’s The Biggest Loser Families which shed 196,000 viewers to post an audience of 530,000, down from last week’s 726,000.

Nine grabbed an audience share of 18.5 per cent as Ten settled for third place with a share of 11.9 per cent as the ABC managed a share of 11.7 per cent.

David Attenborough’s Life Story, airing on Nine at 8.40pm, was watched by 555,000 metro viewers.

The channel also had a boost in the news battle with Seven News at 6pm beating rival Nine with 1.092m, sliding to 1.012 at 6.30pm. Nine News at 6pm pulled in just 994,000 viewers, growing to 1.031m from 6.30pm.
