Yahoo!7 hires head of trading platforms as it looks to build programatic buying offer

Yahoo!7Yahoo!7 has created a new role for head of trading platforms and promoted its trading and direct response manager Renee Fittock to fill it.

Fittock has worked in digital advertising across direct response and display since joining Yahoo!7 in 2009, and previously with DGM and Advertising Energy.

In her new role she will take responsibility for programmatic trading after the publisher launched its own exchange last July, and deploying of the new Yahoo Advertising suite of products. She will remain part of the Yahoo!7 commercial team, reporting to the commercial director.

In recent weeks the digital publisher has launched several new ad platforms as it looks to compete for a bigger share of display advertising dollars against rivals including News Corp, Fairfax and Mi9. However, a mooted tie-up for an exchange between the publishers appears to be on the rocks after News Corp this month pulled its involvement.

Emma Harrington, acting managing director of Yahoo!7 until Ed Harrison completes his gardening leave to step into the role, said the new appointment was a demonstration of the company’s investment in building its offering of programmatic trading solutions.

“Renee was the perfect choice to take on this new role, with a strong commercial background across the Australian digital advertising industry including five years at Yahoo!7,” she said.

“Her reputation across the region and deep knowledge base of trading and platforms will certainly take programmatic buying at Yahoo!7 to the next level.”
