League of Extraordinary Women – Gold Coast Breakfast August

2014 BREAKFAST SERIES
Join us for one of our social breakfasts and meet like-minded women who can motivate you before you even start your working day! At every event, there will be a dynamic speaker talking about their story, giving their advice and sharing their tips.
Our Breakfast series aims to provide a casual atmosphere so that you can easily connect with others, developing long-lasting business relationships and even friendships.
Come along to meet other female entrepreneurs, just like you, who are determined to pave their own paths, make a difference and dream BIG.

OUR SPEAKER – Monica Liebenow

Nuclear, blended, single-parent or Brady Bunch; every family unit is different. But one thing is always the same – a bond that no other relationship can replicate.
In 2008, graphic designer Monica Liebenow was business savvy enough to design a product around just that fact – and the iconic My Family range of stickers was born. If you’re unfamiliar with the name, we guarantee you won’t be unfamiliar with the product. My Family’s white stick figure character stickers adorn the back windows of hundreds of thousands of cars across the country – maybe even yours?
Monica’s business, The Sticker Family, is based at Burleigh Heads and operated by herself and chiropractor husband Phil Barham. From humble beginnings selling their products at school fetes and markets on the Gold Coast in 2009, TSF is now in around 750 Australian retail locations including toyshops, newsagents and various giftstore chains. And the products have also seen international success in 21 locations including New Zealand, Japan, South Africa, Singapore, Canada, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Ireland, Sweden, Austria, Norway, France, Portugal and Spain.
Phil and Monica themselves are the very essence of what makes My Family stickers so relevant. They each bring to the business/life partnership two children from their respective previous relationships. Phil has two sons, while Monica has twin teenage daughters. “Family is our number one value and it must come first,” Monica says. “We like to think that the business’s success comes from all those other people out there who believe in the same family values.”
But there’s a funny and life-changing twist in the story of the stick figures. We won’t steal Monica’s thunder here – you’ll have to come along to the League of Extraordinary Women’s August breakfast to find out what those stick figures did to Monica and why she’s forging a new path in life now…
