Natalie Miller: Visionary Leader

Melbourne’s Grande Dame of cinema, champion of local cinema and filmmakers, advocate for opportunities for women within the film industry, Natalie Miller has been a true cinema pioneer since the Australian film renaissance of the 1970s.

A passionate supporter of independent films and filmmakers, Natalie is the joint Managing Partner of Cinema Nova and Executive Director of Sharmill Films whose recent acquisitions include the Palme d’Or prize winner from the Cannes Film Festival Winter Sleep, Force Majeure and London Road.

She is a recipient of the AO for services to the Film Industry and of the Chevalier dans L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government in March 2003 for her services to the promotion of French culture in Australia and has received lifetime achievement awards from the independent Cinemas Association of Australia and the Screen Producers Association of Australia.

In 2011, the Natalie Miller Fellowship was established to provide an annual grant to encourage leadership and to help profile women in the film industry.

Natalie Miller will join host James Hewison to talk about her distinguished career and love of cinema.
