MELBOURNE
The Visually Striking Festival Favourite Fell: Kasimir Burgess
In competition at the 2014 Sydney Film Festival and fresh from a screening at MIFF the debut feature of Melbourne filmmaker Kasimir Burgess is a visually sumptuous and enigmatic revenge story. The journey for this filmmaker to this point in his career has traversed scratch animation to installation film, documentary, music videos and narrative film.
Kasimir has explored many forms of filmmaking, and in particular filmmaking that mines the territory between art, music and film. He has collaborated with painters, sculptors, philosophers and writers as he explores universal themes that have resonated with people from many cultures and have screened in over thirty countries at festivals including Locarno and Stockholm. Kasimir’s films have won 25 awards – including a Crystal Bear for best short at the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival for Lily.
Kasimir will share his experiences and ideas about his craft with host James Hewison as well as the distribution approach for the film that includes exclusive and limited theatrical seasons run in tandem with Video on Demand seasons for the same price as a cinema ticket.
