Emma Bortignon: The Art of Sound

Emma Bortignon is one of Australia’s leading sound designers with credits on over 25 features including; I Love you Too, Balibo, Love the Beast, feature documentaries, short films (Jerrycan and A Parachute Falling in Siberia) and TV including; Cloudstreet, Beaconsfield, Outland and Underbelly.

Spanning sound design, mixing and effects Emma is known for extracting the subtleties of a sound design to create compelling storytelling and seamless integration of sound and score. With six AFI Award nominations and a win for ‘best sound’ for Noise plus an Australian Screen Sound Guild award for ‘best sound design’ & ‘best mix’ and IF Awards for ‘best sound’ for Noise (2007) as well as Balibo (2010) Emma is well versed in the nuances of creating engaging sound for the screen.

Emma will join host James Hewison to discuss her craft and life as a sound designer.
