Project Five

Project Five is set to delight crowds this spring with Volume 6 of Australia’s longest running contemporary street art project, bringing four of the freshest talents in Australian and New Zealand street art – from the studio to the outdoors, to create tomorrow’s most collectible pieces, live.

Get ready for a high energy Volume 6 with a weekend of live art events, a month long public art exhibition, a series of kids’ urban art workshops and an art auction for charity – at Sydney’s cultural hub Darling Quarter as an associated Art & About Sydney 2014 event.

Inducted into this year’s Project Five artists hall of fame is Askew One (Elliot O’Donnell) – part of renowned artist collective TMD (The Most Dedicated) – from Auckland, NZ and two time winner of the prestigious international graffiti event Write4Gold; Perth’s king of street art Kyle Hughes-Odgers; Sydney’s prolific Alex Lehours; and Melbourne’s 23rd Key, renowned for her photo-realistic works and national winner of the Stencil Art Prize.

Watch energy and creativity fuse as these next big talents each breathe life into a new large-scale artwork to be later auctioned for charity. Sydney’s arts curious can catch all the exhilaration and witness the full creative process over the weekend: Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September, in the open-air studio at Darling Quarter’s Village Green, while enjoying the energetic electro-beats of Sydney based artist EARS (a former Project Five artist).

The four pieces will be auctioned on Friday October 29, with 100% of the proceeds put to work for the Project’s new partner ArtsReady, a not-for-profit organisation that helps young trainees establish themselves in careers in the arts and creative industries.

The program will also feature a month-long public art exhibition of the four Volume 6 artists, exhibiting site-specific large-scale artworks on the outdoor exhibition cubes in Darling Quarters pop-up public art space – OPEN, from Friday September 19 to Sunday October 19.

The popular Kids’ Urban Art workshops, are a must for families, giving baby Banksies the opportunity to dabble in urban art techniques daily throughout the September/October school holidays.
