AFTRS OPEN: Writing for TV – Online

This ten-week online course will introduce you to the fundamentals of creating viable and original TV series concepts.
The course comprises ten modules with a wide variety of learning activities in a lively online text chat forum, including:
• viewing and analysis of existing drama and comedy
• online group activities
• individual assignments and tutor feedback
Specific areas to be explored are the creation of a dramatic world, the ‘what if’ conceptual question, development and creation of a dynamic protagonist, the use of secondary characters, primary and secondary storylines and assembling a series concept document.
Participants should begin the course with the germ of an idea for a TV drama or comedy concept in mind. This should not be an idea that has already been fully developed as a concept. The intention of this course is to guide participants though the process of concept creation from idea inception to concept presentation.
