ABOUT THE EVENT
Fatigue is an acute and ongoing state of tiredness that leads to mental and physical exhaustion, resulting in slower reaction times, reduced alertness, inability to concentrate, and ultimately heightened safety risk.
Fatigue control is becoming an issue of increasing importance for safety professionals and senior executives in organisations across many industries globally. Significantly affecting an individual’s capacity to function, the side-effects of fatigue can include a decreased ability to perform safely, which in turn maximises the potential for dangerous incidents to occur in the workplace. Prolonged fatigue can also lead to a number of other chronic diseases and disorders having serious health implications over the long term.
The favoured direction for many progressive organisations thus far has been a focus on both organisational culture and compliance, with responsibility being shared between employer and employee. Prevention is the best course of action, and the good news is there are many cost-effective and easy to implement solutions that can dramatically reduce the negative impacts of fatigue.
The Fatigue Risk Management Conference 2015 will provide unique insight into innovative new solutions for managing fatigue risk, delivered through a combination of case studies, expert commentaries and interactive sessions. Delegates will leave with practical tools and ideas on how best to identify, assess, eliminate and control fatigue risks in the workplace. They will also expand their professional network of peers and advisors, ensuring that ongoing learning continues after the conference.
