Friday on My Mind: Sydney – Samantha Lang

SYDNEY: KEEPING UP IN TVs NEW GOLDEN AGE: SAMANTHA LANG

Accomplished director Samantha Lang had a huge year in 2014. In March her feature length ‘whodunit’ The Killing Field aired on the Seven Network to an audience of 1.8 million viewers. In June, Carlotta–based on the life of Australia’s most famous transgender entertainer and ‘National Treasure’–reached over 1.1 million viewers on the ABC and was described by major media outlets and commentators as one of the finest locally-made telemovies of the year.

With an accomplished track record directing edgy and provocative features including; The Monkey’s Mask, High Tide and The Well, Samantha will share her experiences and thoughts with host Luke Buckmaster on bringing unconventional characters to the smaller screen during what some are describing as ‘a second golden age of television’.
