MELBOURNE: Katrina Sedgwick – Commissioning Content & the Collective Wisdom of Audiences
Katrina Sedgwick is the newly appointed CEO of the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and has an extensive background as a commissioner, creative producer, arts festival director and performer. There are few people who have thought as deeply and as widely about Australian audiences as Katrina who has consistently found exciting and meaningful ways to connect with them.
From 2012-14 Katrina Sedgwick was Head of Arts for ABC Television and online, commissioning a diverse range of projects for prime time TV,radio, news and online. Prior to that she was the founding Director/CEO of the biennial Adelaide Film
Festival, and its Investment Fund, supporting Australian features, documentaries, shorts, cross-platform and installation works garnering critical acclaim and recognition around
the world that included; Snowtown (2011) Mrs Carey’s Concert (2011), Samson & Delilah (2009 ), Ten Canoes (2006 ) and Look Both Ways (2005)
Sue Maslin and Katrina Sedgwick will discuss ideas about audiences, approaches to curating, commissioning and screening new work.
