Aaron Wilson: Crafting Human Drama
Aaron Wilson is an award winning Melbournian short film and feature director who has a passion for crafting human drama that has proved successful on the international film festival circuit. Aaron’s short credits include: the award-winning Rendezvous (2003) Ten Feet Tall (2005) Faux Pas (2007) and Leap Year (2008). In 2006, Aaron completed a filmmaker residency program in Singapore, resulting in the short film Feng (Wind), a choreographed dance performance which won ‘best short film’ at the 2007 Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival, followed by Ahmad’s Garden in 2008 which received funding from Screen Australia and premiered at MIFF.
Aaron’s feature film debut, Canopy, was selected for Official Competition at TIFF in 2013 in Toronto where it had its world premiere and then screened/competed in 22 international festivals, including all the majors, picking up Special Jury Mention at Abu Dhabi Festival, Grand Prix at Festival des Antipodes, St. Tropez and Best Director at War On Screen Festival International de Cinema, France.
Aaron will share his experiences and thoughts on his approaches to filmmaking with host Margot McDonald.
