Framed Industry Seminar at Open Channel – The Problem With Piracy: IP Awareness in a Changing Digital Landscape

Framed Industry Seminar at Open Channel
The Problem With Piracy: IP Awareness in a Changing Digital Landscape

54% of 18-24 year-old Australians are active pirates – and the rate and frequency is increasing every year.

The digital piracy debate has never been hotter and the digital landscape is changing again. New site-blocking legislation passed in the Australian Senate, allowing rights holders to go to court to block overseas websites that facilitate access to copyright-infringing content. The ISP Notification Scheme rolls out in September and the consequences of the recent Dallas Buyers Club Federal Court decision will start to be felt soon.

Lori Flekser, Director of the IP Awareness Foundation and GM of the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia (MPDAA), leads this discussion of the multifaceted impact piracy has on developing and sustaining a career in the film/TV industry. A former filmmaker and AFC/Screen Australia Manager, Lori understands the industry: from development through to content monetisation.

You’ll have your chance to participate in what promises to be a lively Q&A after Lori’s presentation, with networking drinks to follow the session.
