Program released for Mumbrella Travel Marketing Summit, earlybird offer closes Friday

Mumbrella Travel Marketing SummitThe full program for Mumbrella’s inaugural Travel Marketing Summit has been released with Helloworld chief marketing officer Kim Portrate, Flight Centre senior executive Keith Stanley, Qantas’ brand marketing head Olivia Wirth and Tourism Australia CMO Lisa Ronson all confirmed as speakers.

The one-day event, designed to explore the challenges and opportunities faced by travel marketers in the digital age, will take place at the Amora Hotel in Sydney on April 22.

The summit will open with a presentation from Standard Media Index global director of analytics Tristan Masters, who will provide an in-depth snapshot of advertising spend in the travel sector. SMI data analyses a wide cross section of the industry including hotels, resorts, travel agents, airlines, cruise lines and country brand advertising.

He will be followed by experienced marketer Keith Stanley who, as Flight Centre’s general manager of product, advertising and consumer experience, will outline the retailer’s evolving marketing strategy in a morning keynote address.

Kim PortrateThe afternoon keynote presentation will be delivered by Helloworld chief marketing officer Kim Portrate. The former Tourism Australia executive joined the fledgling travel retailer in October 2013 with a remit to establish the brand in the market. Helloworld replaced four existing high street retail brands – Harvey World Travel, Travelscene, Jetset and Travelworld – and Portrate will provide an insight on how she has built the brand from scratch.

Meanwhile, senior Qantas executive Olivia Wirth will be interviewed live on stage and will provide an update on the airline’s marketing strategy and address the marketing challenges of operating in such a competitive sector.

Social and digital marketing will be a focus at the summit with an expert panel, including Instagram’s Sophie Blachford, Facebook’s Paul McCrory, Stackla’s Peter Cassidy and Contiki’s Katrina Barry debating the next developments in social media marketing.

There will also be a session on how to target a new audience, with Trafalgar Guided Holidays managing director Matthew Cameron-Smith and Carnival Australia director of marketing and distribution Simon Cheng amongst the panelists.

FutureBrand chief executive Richard Curtis will moderate a discussion on the “good, the bad and ugly of travel branding” with Tourism Australia chief marketing officer Lisa Ronson among the panelists. She will be joined by AAT Kings managing director Anthony Hayes.

There will also be a session on content marketing, with a round table question time of senior industry leaders wrapping up the summit.
