“OzPod 2016 is an Australian-first opportunity to explore podcasting through multiple lenses: business, content and audience,” said Linda Bracken, ABC Radio’s Head of Content & Digital.

“This is going to be a wide-ranging and thought-provoking day which will appeal to every radio maker and podcaster in Australia and which we know will be enormous fun as well.”

The conference will be a free event and will provide an opportunity to people in the space to share practice and insights on podcasting, from a local and international perspective.

Panel sessions will offer an analysis of Australian podcast audiences, and discuss how traditional media are incorporating podcasting into their broadcast offer. They will also examine the methodology and production of some of Australia’s leading podcasts.

Hot Pod’s Nick Quah, a leader in podcast analysis, will discuss the future development of the medium and offer insights into US commercialisation practice and revenue modelling.

Quah is the founder and writer of Hot Pod, a newsletter about podcasts that appears on Nieman Lab, who also directed audio development efforts at US platform Panoply.

Australia has experienced a podcast boom in recent years, with print publishers, consumers and brands recognising podcasting as an integral medium. With 135 million podcasts downloaded or streamed from ABC Radio last year, the Australian podcasting space is maturing rapidly.

The full OzPod 2016 schedule, and further speakers, will be announced in coming months.
