ADMA to run session advising businesses on new Privacy Act

Association for Data-driven Marketing and Advertising (ADMA) will hold briefings in the next few weeks to explain new changes to the privacy laws.

The announcement:

The Association for Data-driven Marketing and Advertising (ADMA) is holding a series of Privacy Act briefings over the next two weeks to help marketers and advertisers learn more about the changes to the Privacy Act and how Australian businesses must handle the personal data of customers in the future.

More than 500 people will attend the briefings in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.

ADMA CEO Jodie Sangster will present on:

·         how changes to the Privacy Act will affect personalised marketing
·         effects on customer personal data collection
·         guidance on using personal data for marketing purposes
·         how the changes will impact the customer relationship
·         what it will mean for prospect marketing.
“Changes to the Privacy Act will come into effect March 2014, meaning businesses need to act now to understand how they will be affected in terms of their customer and prospective customer data handling practice,” said ADMA CEO Jodie Sangster.

“There are some significant changes coming that will affect how businesses can market to customers and prospects. These have the potential to have a big impact on future marketing and advertising activities,” she added.

“There are also some more subtle changes that will require new business processes and procedures. It takes time to build these into business systems so that the compliance cost and interruption to normal activity is kept to a minimum.”

“ADMA has a responsibility to ensure the industry understands what’s coming and avoid the massive million dollar fines that could be imposed if the amended privacy laws are breached.”

Tomorrow’s breakfast in Melbourne is sold out as is the Thursday breakfast in Sydney, but there are still spaces for this Thursday evening in Brisbane, the evening briefing in Perth on Monday 25 March and a second breakfast briefing in Sydney Thursday 27 March.
