The Bachelor ups Ten’s share ahead of tonight’s finale

Channel Ten enjoyed a ratings boost last night as the penultimate episode of this season of The Bachelor picked up more than 250,000 viewers than last week, beating one of its timeslot rivals on Seven in the process.

Meanwhile the finale of ABC comedy Utopia held its exact audience from last week with 620,000 viewers at 8.30pm, while Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell dropped on its second outing of the series by 73,000 to 570,000.

The Block: Glasshouse was the top show of the night as it gears up for the auction finale on Sunday, winning the 7.30 timeslot with 1.137m viewers, ahead of Seven’s The Force – Behind the Line which had 938,000, and The Bachelor on Ten which had 895,000.

However, The Bachelor did beat Seven’s 8pm offering of Border Security which had 863,000 viewers for its half hour run.

At 8.40pm Big Brother for Nine picked up 40,000 viewers on last week’s performance to 658,000 viewers, while Ten’s Wonderland from  8.40pm picked up to 458,000, from 418,000 last week. The show was the second most time shifted of last Wednesday, with an extra 111,000 viewers on catch up. ABC’s Reality Check also got a lift to 455,000, after a low of 390,000 last week.

However Seven’s repeat of Criminal Minds topped the timeslot with 673,000 viewers from 8.30pm.

Nine news’ 6.30pm bulletin was once again the most watched news show with 1.072m, fractionally above the 6pm slot with 1.071m. Seven’s 6pm bulletin had 1.013m and the split 6.30pm and Today Tonight dropped to 983,000.

At 7pm A Current Affair on Nine got 1.011m, beating Seven’s Home and Away with 936,000, and Ten’s The Project 7pm with 621,000. Family Feud at 6pm for Ten got 648,000 viewers on its simulcast on Ten, One and Eleven.

Nine pipp[ed Seven for the night in terms of audience share with 20.7 to 20.5, while Ten lifted to 13.4 per cent, ahead of ABC’s 11 per cent.
