Bauer Media promotes Miriam Condon and hires Anna Preston to solidify restructure

Bauer Media has made two new appointments in a bid to strengthen its five-pillars strategy, which has seen the publisher shut magazines and streamline its presence around five consumer segments.

Miriam Condon has been promoted from research and insights manager to director of research, and News Corp’s Anna Preston has been hired as national strategy manager.

Condon’s head of research role will see her lead the research team “to provide deeper insights into Bauer’s audiences across its portfolio of leading brands and how advertisers can connect with them”, according to a statement from the publisher.

Condon – who joined Bauer from Roy Morgan Research in January – has previously held similar roles, spending over a decade as research director at ACP Magazines (now Bauer Media), before she shifted to Pacific Magazines as planning and strategy director. She replaces Justin Stone who left in February to join APN News & Media as director of research and insights after 12 years with the publisher.

Condon started with Bauer in January

The national strategy manager is a new role for Bauer and will see Preston “provide advertisers with insights across brands, categories and audiences to deliver accountable campaigns and cross-platform results”.

Preston joins from News Corp, where she was also national strategy manager. Prior to working at News Corp, Preston was research and insights director at News Corp.

The appointments follow Bauer Media’s restructure which has seen all magazines undergoing a “viability” audit and and the publisher refocusing on five key pillars: Women’s Entertainment & Lifestyle; Homes; Food; Fashion, Health & Beauty; Motoring and Trader.

Fiorella Di Santo, director of sales at Bauer Media, said the appointments would strengthen Bauer’s commercial offering.

“Anna has worked at both publisher and media agency and in this newly created role will leverage all our resources to provide strategic insights for commercial partners that are specific and actionable. I welcome her to Bauer.

Preston joins from News Corp

“Miriam’s extensive experience in media and her expertise in consumer insights across all our categories will ensure we are delivering meaningful insights for our brands and advertisers to deepen their connection with customers,” she said in a statement.
