Cosmo Bride missing from newsstands as Bauer declines to say whether title has been axed

Cosmopolitan Bride’s quarterly print edition appears to have been axed, with no sign of its Spring edition on sale several weeks after it was due.

The company also appears to have removed the Cosmopolitan Bride media kit from its website.

The quarterly title, which costs $14.99, had a readership of 62,000, according to figures from EMMA in September last year.

Cosmopolitan Bride will now run as a digital only product

Last year the Spring edition arrived on shelves in July.

Bauer Media did not directly respond to Mumbrella’s questions about whether the magazine would continue as a standalone title, instead issuing a short statement saying: “Cosmo Bride will continue to be part of the Cosmo offer across both print and digital. Quarterly content will feature in different formats e.g. the August issue of Cosmo Bride ran as a flip cover.”

When asked whether that meant the magazine would become an insert inside the main edition of Cosmo, the spokesperson had not offered any further information at the time of posting..

The speculation comes two months after Lorna Gray, digital managing editor of features, was promoted to the helm of Cosmo’s print and online editions in what was seen as a signal of a digital future for the magazine. Bauer Media declined to  provide a statement as to whether Cosmopolitan itself might become a digital only product.

Earlier this year, Bauer Media restructured its digital team, and ‘centralised’ other magazine titles, including Woman’s Day, OK Magazine and NW. Eleven jobs were axed as part of the process.

Recent months has seen Bauer Media invest in some of its titles. Bauer Media extended its TV Week brand to include a monthly features edition, and did the same for Take 5.

It also launched a new Women’s Weekly Food website and influencer network, and acquired Inside Out, Country Style and HomeLife from News Corp. In June, Bauer Media also consolidated its automotive content onto one website, WhichCar Network.

The last quarterly print title axed by Bauer Media was Men’s Style.
