Dan Ilic’s A Rational Fear returns to air after four years
Australian satirist Dan Ilic has relaunched his podcast and live show, A Rational Fear.
The former ABC Radio National show was also broadcast on FBi radio and The Guardian and featured two live shows at The Opera House.
In 2014, a crowd-funding campaign on Pozible raised more than $50,000, allowing for a 10-week digital comedy hub.
However, the show was rested after 2014 and Ilic went to the US, working across the Al Jazeera as a senior satire producer before he was controversially fired. He later became executive producer of satire for Fusion Media Group.
A Rational Fear will return to stage on May 25 with comedians Rosie Waterland, Jazz Twemlow and Lewis Hobba, as well as banking expert Cath Brown.
It will be coupled with a monthly podcast, which will be available through iTunes and Pocketcasts.
Of the launch, Ilic said: “In a time of fake news, fake hair, and real tragedy, it would be mad not to have another crack. I mean, the jokes are writing themselves, so I can just sit back and cash in”.
The announcement comes a month after ABC’s Tonightly announced Dan Ilic as executive producer.
