Decoded to present as part of Vivid Sydney

Digital educator, Decoded, has annouced it will be presenting a session on Blockchain as part of Vivid Sydney in May.

The announcement:

Leading digital educator, Decoded, is heading to Vivid Sydney – the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas – with a breakfast session examining the brave new world of one of the most explosive technologies, set to change a raft of industries and all of our futures.

Using examples from mangoes to diamonds, New Kid on the Blockchain will explore the mindset behind Blockchain and similar technologies. Plus, as part of the Vivid Ideas section of Vivid Sydney 2018, it will give a typical hands-on Decoded experience.

Open to all, this session will tackle the technologies set to replace old-fangled ways with smart contracts and automatic fulfilment and payment processes. It will enable attendees to identify opportunities about implementing distributed ledgers in their own organisations.

“Distributed ledgers and Blockchain technologies have applications far beyond their most famous example — Bitcoin — though they are not yet widely understood,” Decoded’s Head of Region for APAC, Chris Monk, said.
“And if there is one technology at the moment that is both complex and creating hype, it’s Blockchain. Blockchain is the new darling of the tech world and everybody wants in. But apart from sounding like a rather unpleasant plumbing problem, what is it?

“The answer is that Blockchain and similar technologies will forever alter the way transactions occur, how we store and share data, track the provenance of goods and manage supply chains.”

Chris Monk co-presented the 2016 Vivid Ideas session Data-Driven Storytelling and will host this year’s 90 minute seminar with Decoded Project Manager Victoria Shillingford.
