ACS Victoria 2019 Diversity Breakfast: Insights into creating a diverse ICT team
Join us to hear unique insights from our expert panellists on how to accelerate your move to an equal opportunity workplace.
At a time when Australia is facing a serious shortage of ICT professionals, women represent only 28% of ICT workforce in Australia compared to 43% in the wider professional workforce. This underutilization of human capital in ICT looms as a major constraint on Australia’s national growth.
In addition, ACS’s recent event ‘Achieving Diversity through Reskilling’, held in October 2018 identified the need for fundamental change in the way that we approach diversity, citing that workforce participation and pay equality will be achieved in 212 years if current strategies and approaches remain the same. ACS Victoria argues that a key element to this fundamental change is to approach diversity from a ‘whole of population’ point of view, that is, that a truly diverse workforce closely reflects the diversity of the broader population.
At this breakfast our expert panellists will discuss different approaches to diversity, and will identify real, tangible actions that organisations can take to create a positive impact in regards to diversity and inclusion within the workforce.
Panellists include:
Helen Kapalos – Chairperson, Victorian Multicultural Commission
Geoff Purcell – CTO, Melbourne Water
Kelly Taylor – Head of Strategic Growth – Digital iD, Australia Post
Gerard Holland – Co-Founder and CEO, Outcome.Life
