AFTRS Concept to Creation: Design Intensive
Gain skills to help communicate your ideas to others visually. This five-day intensive, taught by a highly experienced Production Designer, will cover previsualisation, storyboarding and creating concept art to help you communicate and share your ideas in formats that others can readily understand. You’ll also learn the basics of tech drawing and crafting physical and virtual models. You’ll gain a range of useful skills, be creatively inspired and have fun doing it.
– Learn to communicate mood, tone and character through pre-visualisation and concept art exercises
– Gain skills in storyboarding and perspective rendering to help tell your story
– Get hands on-practice creating real and virtual 3D models for sets, events and props
If you are working in the Art Department in film, TV, commercial production or theatre (eg as a stand-by, co-ordinator or dresser) and want to increase your skills to move into more creative and responsible roles this course is ideal. It would also be very useful if you work in the staging of events.
It would also be useful for Directors or DPs to develop skills to help you communicate your vision effectively. And for anyone who needs to create a pitch document, you can learn the skills to take what’s in your head and communicate to a client or funder effectively.
This is a very hands-on course, and you will be doing a lot of work on and with paper. Some design experience would be a plus but not essential. There will also be some computer design work using Google Sketch up.
