Former Googler joins Criteo as Australia and New Zealand commercial director

Google Australia’s former head of retail, Colin Barnard has been appointed Criteo’s commercial director for Australia and New Zealand.

Barnard replaces Pressy Sankaran who steps down as head of Criteo ANZ after six years with the online advertising exchange.

Colin Barnard: ““The power of technologies such as AI are revolutionising the ways brands are communicating to their audience.”

In his new role, Barnard will report directly into Alban Villani, managing director of Criteo SEAPAC.

“Criteo is undergoing a major transformation to become the platform of choice in AdTech, and we’re really excited to be able to appoint Colin to lead us in ANZ,” said Villani.

“With his wealth of experience, I know that Colin is going to help us thrive as a business and drive us in our next stage of growth. We are incredibly grateful for Pressy’s hard work and leadership over the past six years and wish him all the best.”

At Mumbrella’s Finance Marketing Summit in 2017, Bernard described how customers are willing to trade their data for a seamless, fast, relevant experiences.

“As people are scanning across the landscape they’re leaving breadcrumbs everywhere, data absolutely everywhere, and that doesn’t have to be creepy, because if you can use data by making it relevant to people, they don’t mind that,” he said at the time.

Barnard said of his new role: “I’m delighted to be joining Criteo at such an important point in the company’s journey.

“The power of technologies such as AI are revolutionising the ways brands are communicating to their audience, and I am looking forward to driving Criteo within this space.”
