I’m a corporate writer who produces annual reports, speeches, feature articles, case studies, media releases, newsletters and much more. I am based in Sydney.
Over the past 26 years I’ve written for, or about, an A-Z of corporate Australia – household names and icons; private and public sector; local and global. The full list is on my web site.
And I’ve written everything except poetry. One client wanted a limerick, but I talked him around.
Long copy or short copy; journalism or marketing communications; written word or spoken word; online or offline. Authentic language – in thought, speech and words on a page – is my currency.
I work routinely at all levels of the business, from factory floor to mahogany row. I’ve written for a Premier of NSW, the CEO of Telstra and the MD of Microsoft Australia. If prompted, I’m even happy to recount some tales of my time on the roller coaster as press secretary to the NSW Minister for Police.
Before writing for corporations and politicians I wrote for the print media. I was a journalist on The Sydney Morning Herald where I covered general news, local government, State politics and crime.
Sometimes it was difficult to distinguish one from the other.
I’ve also been a regular contributor to The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Bulletin, CFO, CIO, MIS, APC, Inside Sport, Alpha and Australian Doctor. I edited NetGuide magazine, wrote ad copy for Ogilvy & Mather and worked in media relations for the NSW Business Chamber and Telstra.
Client service brings unique demands and I’ve built a writing career by being on time, on brief and on budget. Energetic, positive and organised, I present professionally, but I’m always willing to muck in to get the job done.
I keep a cool head under pressure, I know what I don’t know and I’m always ready for a good laugh – especially at myself. I’m a plain-English fanatic who believes the most powerful word in our language is the full-stop. See.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from RMIT University, an open mind, no fear of deadlines and a firm belief that everyone has something valuable to say.
