Linda Johannesson

Hi there… here’s a bit about me…

I’m a strategist, marketer, communicator, brand champion, connector, relationship manager, blogger and social media advocate who believes that technology, innovation, conversation and community are essential in creating effective marketing and communication solutions.

My 20+ years of marketing and internal communications experience includes projects that showcase a trademark use of new media and emerging technologies. My portfolio includes a variety of professional service branding and integrated marketing campaigns, product/service launches, change management communications, website redesign, blog creation and management, and the development of project wikis, online discussion forums and personal learning networks. For a full CV, see my LinkedIn profile.

Luckily I’ve been on both the buyer and supplier sides of the desk, holding senior management roles in the Human Capital Consulting, News Distribution and Recruitment industries. I’ve run my own freelance consulting business supplying solutions to the Architecture/Engineering and News Media industries as well as for various professional services clients.

I’ve participated on boards and working committees for the International Association of Business Communicators, The American Marketing Association and for various associations, community, sporting and social clubs. Here in Sydney, these include IABC NSW Chapter, Canadian Australian Chamber of Commerce and The Canadian Australian (social) Club

I write fiction for fun and have authored articles around the effective use of social media Using LinkedIn is a Little like Going to the Gym – 7 Tips for Building your Networking Muscle and Are you keeping up with recent technology? I’m a regular attendee at Social Media Club Sydney events and I’ve actively participated in a number of online social media events, conversations and experiments as I continue to grow my digital footprint.

My most successful social media achievement to date is the “outtathegate” social media campaign . This integrated social media initiative combined the power of twitter, blogs, Flickr, Ning, podcasts, delicious links, YouTube, Google tools, Skype and conference attendees to create a dynamic conversation that extended the reach of the recent IABC World Conference outside the session walls and beyond the attendees to that of a global conversation.

Originally from Toronto, Canada, I now live in Sydney, Australia. I can usually be found online on twitter as @abroadabroadeh and my personal blog is A Broad Abroad, eh! Chronicling the Adventures of Canadian Gone Down Under.
